Portfolio Analysis

Part 1 Video 1: A) The photographer is Travis Haughton. B) The focus of this portfolio is to show athletes playing their sports and having a few random people going through everyday life.  C) Back of the head dominating the photo, one of the photos needed a caption to help explain the photo, missing the point of the photo.  D) Photos don't looked staged and there is depth to their photo.  E) I think the photographer is a better sports photographer than an everyday photographer. Some of his everyday photos were so random in the fact that he completely missed to point of the photo, but besides that I think he has the right idea of what he wants to take he just needs to do a better job of executing the photos.  1)  Video 2:  A) The photographer is Josh Birnbaum. B) I think the main focus of this portfolio was to get as many good photos of what ever he could but towards the end it took a turn by just focusing on the story of one guy.  C) Missed an opportunity

With being a student athlete lives can get very busy so I might be able to get some different details that the average person wouldn't have.

It is more important to make sure the focal point of the photo is perfect than making sure you have rule of thirds in the photo. 8. Pick the main focal point of the photo and then add other elements one by one. 9. It is very hard to get a photo when it is a heavy cloudy sky day. Sometimes the photo looks 10 times better if it's in black and white because the weather or lighting may have been bad. 10. Nut Graf

Image
A nut graph explains the context that is needed in a story. With using a nut graph is makes sure that you don't forget any important information. A nut graph also keeps you from writing to much in your story. Nut graphs allows you to include everything you need without writing a book. It is also used because not all the 5W's are always answered in the lead of your story.   With nut graphs they cannot be longer than one paragraph to keep everything to the point. Not all stories require you to have a nut graph but most of them time you do. A nut graph is also used when a 'where', 'who', 'why', or 'when' is not answered. Nut graphs usually show up in more feature stories than hard regular news stories.

Eden Project, United Kingdom 1. Nicholas Grimshaw 2. 1998 3.  Cornwall, England, UK 4. Yes 5. 141 million euros 6. It was built to show the importance of plants to people and to have plant resources. 7. I picked this building because of how interesting it looked from afar and up close. The depth of the "walls and ceilings" is so interesting to look at. From afar is just looks like a blown up bubble but when you get up close you can see all of the little details that the architect put into the building. Another thing that made me chose this building was the landscaping around it. The building itself is very simple and the landscaping just gives it something a little extra. Guggenheim Museum, Spain 1. Frank Gehry 2. 1997 3. Abanda, Bilbao, Spain 4. Yes 5. 182 million dollars 6. It was built to be a permanent building to house the Guggenheim's art collection. 7. I picked this building because of where it is located. Architecture in Spain is always unique. T

Sensory Overload

1. I disagree with this statement because when you go to a community and you see the kind of environment someone lives in. People can live in a big beautiful home or people can live in a little hut in the middle of nowhere. I think photography of environments just shows the viewer what different kinds of people live in. 2. Yes I did want to go to these places just to take pictures. 3. I think it would be very hard for them because all that kids want to do is go play and have fun. In a working environment they can't do that because they are forced to work on the talk that is put in front of them. 4. My favorite photo is one of me and all of my cousins with my great grandmother. We were all at my aunts wedding and all of us gathered around my great grandmother to take a picture during the reception. It was the only picture of all of us in the same place with her before she passed away.

Sports Warm Up

1. This is part of a winning sports photography portfolio because of how the photographer captured the water hitting the winning coach before he could react to the cold water. 2. The shutter speed on this photo is 1/500. 3. This is a key moment because coaches only get drenched when they win a very important game. I don't think this could of been planned because the photographer had no idea who would win the game until the game was over. 4. Being in the right place, having the right angle, having the camera in focus, and having all of the settings on the camera correct.

Self Portraits VS Selfies

Image
1. A selfie is a picture taken from your phone facing you which then leads to a photo of yourself. 2. A self portrait is of an artist that is created by that person. 3. Yes the difference is that selfie's are taken on someone's phone and the other is taken from an actual camera. 4. I prefer a self portrait because it is taken with an actual camera and looks more professional. 5. I think that self portraits are more important because are by far way more professional looking than a selfie just by how it presents itself. Welcome Back Work

Image
I choose this photo because is shows that if you put in the hard work you can accomplish the tasks that no one believed you could ever do. I choose this photo because it should remind humans that all that we do is just live on this earth, its not ours. Technically we are its guest so we have no control of the horrific destruction that the earth does. I choose this photo because of how caring people are. This man most likely doesn't know this kid but risks his life to make sure this little boy has a life to live. Part 2 I think the best song of 2018 is Chapters by Brett Young. This is the best song in my opinion because it talks about all the different stages of someones life. With talking about that it can connect with all different kinds of people no matter what their age is. The song talks about a lesson learned through every single phase of your life. I think the best movie of 2018 was Incredibles 2 because I personally love the original and I think the second movie
