1. You can look up the location on Google Maps or just google it.
2. You can use Google Maps.
3. The background and foreground can appear to be very close together.
4. You can use a ND grad filter.
5. Take a waterproof bag, cleaning cloths, and a microfiber towel.
6. Pre-scouting helps because it allows you to see the different elements of the back and foreground.
7. Subject because nature doesn't always follow the rules of composition. It is more important to make sure the focal point of the photo is perfect than making sure you have rule of thirds in the photo.
8. Pick the main focal point of the photo and then add other elements one by one.
9. It is very hard to get a photo when it is a heavy cloudy sky day. Sometimes the photo looks 10 times better if it's in black and white because the weather or lighting may have been bad.
10. It takes less time to research the area because you have already been there. It will take way more time to scout out a new location when you can get multiple good photos in a place you have already been to in half the time.
